| Born in Chicago, grew up in Evanston. I first played professionally as a musician at age 15. Began in radio at WGLT (Illinois State University - Normal, IL) in the Fall of 1974. Then at WBEZ in Chicago 1979-1998. Began as host of Jazz Transfusion at WXRT in Chicago on Sunday nights fall of 1986 and am presently still there. Began full time hosting at WDCB in fall of 2001. Have continued as a professional musician(saxophonist) and bandleader in Chicago. Also have been teaching a course called Jazz Traditions at Columbia College in Chicago for over 5 years. Thanks to my friend, Chicago jazz vocalist Jackie Allen, for taking the picture of me that you see on this page. I enjoy traveling via car, and red wine... (but never at the same time) |
